An Evening to End Polio Now 30th march'10 :

My Dear Teammates,
My warm Rotary greetings and good wishes to you.

As you would be aware RI President Elect Ray Klinginsmith and Director K R Ravindran will be with us all from the evening of the 30th March’10 till the morning of the 1st of April’10, at Hyderabad. This is the first
time ever that an RIPE and an RID are together visiting our district and we will thus have the rare and privileged opportunity to meet, hear and interact with them.

Late evening, at 8pm, on Tuesday, the 30th of March 2010, the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Gachibowli under the dynamic and committed leadership of President Jony Lawrence and Secretary Ruchi Saran, and ably
supported by the enthusiastic Rotarians of the Gachibowli Club, will be organising an EVENING to END POLIO NOW. The Event represents a FUND RAISER that aims to send in a handsome amount to the Rotary
Foundation as part of the BILL GATES CHALLENGE for our flagship programme – POLIO ERADICATION.

The evening will feature an excellent ONE-hour cultural programme – a fine Bharata Natyam presentation by the Sri Rama Natya Niketan, Hyderabad – a troupe that has made a mark for itself in recent times. This will
be followed by Cocktails and Dinner, and will afford attending Rotarians an opportunity to interact with RIPE Ray and RID Ravi. Admission will be by DONATION, to END POLIO NOW. GOLDEN DONOR
PASSES, thirty in number, would be available at Rs 5000/- each, while the major 250 DONOR tickets would be available at Rs 1000/- each. The money so contributed by attending Rotarians would entirely go to our
Rotary Foundation for the polio cause. Friends, a young and committed club has come forward to champion our polio cause by organising a great evening for all of us. Let us participate actively and show our
unswerving commitment to Rotary’s flagship programme – Polio Eradication. The donor passes would be available on first come first served basis. The event will be held at HOTEL ISTA, Gachibowli, Hyderabad
and promises to be yet another memorable Rotary event in our district. President Jony and his team have planned well and are working hard and smart – let’s join them and make the 30th March Evening – an
evening to cherish and remember.

Our contribution to the Polioplus Challenge during the period 1st December 2007 to 30th June 2009 has been USD 25250/-. During the period 1st July 2009 to 31st December 2009 our contributions have been
USD 19125/-. The Rotary Foundation spends 52% of polio funds for polio eradication in India. Many years back, as RI President James Bomar administered the first two polio drops to a two year old girl child in
the Phillipines, he felt someone tugging at his trousers. He bent down to see a seven year old polio victim – a boy who had crawled upto him. Even as James Bomar wondered why the boy was looking up at him, the
boy said, “ Thank you …… my sister …..thank you ….. ROTARY!”

My dear fellow Rotarians – the evening of the 30th March presents an opportunity to everyone of us to ensure that some child, somewhere, is not deprived of the joys of childhood and a life of happiness. Please
remember – to the world you may be one person – but to ONE PERSON, you may be THE WORLD.

Let us act. Let us END POLIO NOW.

With kind Regards,

Yours in Rotary

C SURESH
