Visit to Boys Town on 7.10.06:

About BoysTown
The president along with some members have visited the Boys Town at Jahanuma with a view to
understand the working of the school and assist them in their endeavor. Most of the students are street
children, but a lot of them are also deaf and dumb students. The best part of the institute is that they have a 100 % job placements of their students. The institute survives by securing orders from various industries. A family visit is also planned in the coming month.

Dear Rajesh,
Report on visit to Boys Town on 07-10-2006. Group of Rotarians lead by Mr. Rajesh, President visited Boys Town located at Jahanuma, old city of Hyderabad. The following Rotarians were part of visit. (1) Mr. Rajesh, president (2) Mr. Sameer Gupta, Secretary, (3) Mr.Ramayya.K.A., Community Services, (4) Mr. Amaranth.

Brothers Devasi, principal, Boys town received us and took us for conducted tour of the institute. All the different sections of the institute weregone through vizcarpentry, Welding, Turning, fitting, machining, grinding, electrical, AC Section, and IT.

Boys Town was established in 1955 as on orphanage for the education, skills training and rehabilitation of orphans, destitute and other deprived children and youth, irrespective of their casts & creed have benefited from the programmes of this institution. Boys town has grown over the years into a premier institution, in Hyderabad, offering many services for the deprived. At present 600 students are on rolls. School is also functioning in the same compound serving mostly poor Muslims of the area. During the interaction we have come to know that orphans and street children are picked up given education and training in one of the trades. Children are totally taken care for lodgining, boarding and all other needs. If the children are not taken care possibility of their becoming criminals cannot ruled out. The transformation of children into responsible and dignified citizens who stand on their own feet and command respect and contribute to nation. Mr. Devasi hosted breakfast and we interacted to know more about the noble institution. We felt Hyderabad is blessed with such noble organization.

We all assembled in a hall and distributed 100 pairs of shoes to the students. On Rajesh’s suggestion, I have addressed the students and assured them of
